Southend Adult Community College
Digital signage design to raise the profile of the college both locally and regionally. Although the college has been around for many years, they identified an issue in that many local residents did not know where they are located. A marketing campaign was devised using a play on words with the tagline 'Here for you', alluding to the location of the college as well as the services they offer adults for personal development. An inital concept was created and approved using a map of the area as the background with localtion markers and an image of the building.
Rather than using a traditional 2D map, I wanted to give the design some depth with a 'flyover' feel so that I could place location markers which would 'pop out' as if they were placed vertically on a flat plane. I was also quite keen to make the college building an interesting focal point by hand drawing the college building and gaving it a cut out effect, reminiscent of the old 'Paddington Bear' TV series. This added to the 3D effect I wanted to achieve.
Lastly the design was revised for 4 different screen sizes that are used on bus stop and other digital signage throughout the borough.
Campaign ran in association with JMW Media and the Essex Chamber of Commerce, who awarded the college a free advertising campaign.
